1. Riverland Farm
The riverland farm is a very very unique farm, it is a massive farm but an overwhelming majority of the farm is covered in water. There are these small little islands that you can actually use for growing crops, looking after animals or processing goods. While this farm has a similar number of plantable tiles when compared to others, there is much less space for buildings. Pick this farm if you are looking for a challenge, it is pretty hard to decorate this farm, if your goal is to make ten million gold, this farm might make that hard for you.
There are one thousand six hundred plantable tiles on this farm, but they are scattered randomly all over the place and that makes maximising sprinklers and scarecrows a little bit awkward. The riverland farm is good if you are looking for a unique challenge, and I would most definitely not recommend it to new players. If you are already a pro gamer, then go right ahead.
2. Hilltop Farm
The hilltop farm is very similar to the riverland farm but it is considerably better in terms of total space that you can use efficiently. The only problem with this farm is that it is separated by a stream of water and you can only cross with these bridges, for some reason massive rocks or stumps often block these bridges making it harder to cross early into the game. This farm does have its very own personal quarry which is not extremely useful but can be really convenient if you are short on stone or something.
The hill top farm has one thousand six hundred plantable tiles, luckily a large majority of those tiles are within large clumps. This will allow you to have dedicated farming areas instead of being randomly scattered around like the riverland farm. Trust me, this makes setting up sprinklers so much easier, it’s small but impactful. The hilltop farm also has a ton of decoration potential if you are creative, but if you are looking for an easier time, keep watching.
3. Beach Farm
Aaah the beach farm, I kind of love the beach farm but to be honest, it’s not a very good farm for newer and even experienced players. The beach farm is absolutely massive! Just look at how large this farm layout is, the downside is that you cannot place sprinklers on any of the beach sand. Wow would you look at that, almost all of the farm is beach sand. So yes, this farm layout will make it really hard to plant many crops. There is only one place on the entire farm that you can place sprinklers, and it only covers around two hundred tiles.
Luckily nothing is stopping you from building as many barns and sheds as you can fit on this massive farm. Truffle might just be your saviour. This farm does have a fun little bonus though, these crates will wash up on the beach sand and you can destroy them for some really good loot. From deluxe retaining soil to artefact troves! These crates might not make up for the down sides of this farm layout, but if you are looking for a unique fun challenge, well then. This farm is perfect for you.
4. Wilderness Farm
The wilderness farm is actually kind of incredible. This farm is surprisingly massive as it has over two thousand plantable tiles. The biggest hook of the wilderness farm is that monsters can spawn on this farm at night right. While it is true that there is an option to allow monsters to spawn on any farm, the wilderness farm will always have more monsters than the other farms. Even with that being the case, it shouldn’t make your playthrough harder if you are quite experienced with the game. If you are brand new, then this might make the game really hard for you as they will attack you every single night.
I think the biggest issue with this farm is that eventually defeating these enemies just becomes tedious as they’re pretty easy once you get a good weapon. The enemies are not hard, and they never will be. Pick this farm if you want to make good profit as there is plenty of space to grow crops and raise animals. You will get some free loot from some weak enemies at night which could be seen as a bonus to some. I really do like the wilderness farm, but it’s not that unique anymore since we can turn any farm into a monster infested farm, but it still has its charm.
5. Four Corners Farm
The four corners farm is definitely the best farm in the entire game if you are planning to play the game in CO-OP. Because this massive farm is divided into four equal quadrants, while this is great for Co-Op, it doesn’t mean that you should not pick this farm layout if you play in single player. This farm layout has almost three thousand palatable tiles. That is massive. You can plant so many crops, then a goal that involves gold is going to be easy for you.
The nice thing about this farm layout is that it has four parts to it, so if you are the type of person who really likes organising things like that well this is going to be perfect for you. You can have each quadrant dedicated to something specific, crops at the top left, animal farm building at the bottom left, the bottom right can be dedicated to sheds and processing machines. And you can decorate the top right part and just make it look awesome, while the other parts are efficient. I really do like this farm layout.
6. Forest Farm
I am going to be extremely blunt here. If you are a new player, or you are struggling and thinking of starting a new playthrough, pick the forest farm. The forest farm is so good its almost like playing the game on easy mode. The forest farm only has one thousand four hundred plantable tiles, but there is plenty of room to place buildings so you might see yourself actually utilising all of it.
But that’s not the reason it’s so good, the forest farm has eight hard wood stumps on it and those hardwood stumps can regrow every single day. This means that you can obtain sixteen hardwood every single day, in addition to the hardwood that you can already obtain in the secret woods. You will never ever run out of hardwood if you pick this farm.
But wait, there is more, foragables will also spawn on the forest farm. This includes all of the seasonal foragables, meaning you can level your foraging skill faster as there are extra spawn spots if you have this farm. Also, you see these bushes. You can chop them down if you want too, but it would highly recommend against that. Because these bushes can actually have berries on them during the spring and summer berry season. The forest farm is just too good I guess.
7. the Standard Farm Is the best Farm Layout In Stardew Valley
While the forest is absolutely amazing, there is still one farm that is better than it, and every other farm in this game. This might just be the best farm layout in stardew valley. The Basic, empty, boring standard farm. This might come as a surprise to you! But the standard farm is by far the biggest farm in the game, there are almost three thousand five hundred plantable tiles on this farm. This is double the size of most of the farm, and still considerably larger than the other large farms.
The biggest advantage that this farm has, is that there are basically no obstacles on this farm, there is nothing stopping you from either planting crops, or constructing tons of buildings. The other farm layouts have grass on them, you cannot grow crops on grass, the other farm layouts have ledges, unique shapes and large bodies of water. The standard farm has none of that. And that alone, is a good enough reason to make the standard farm the best farm in the game.
8. Meadows farm
There is now a new farm type called the meadows farm, on which you will find bluegrass. Your animals love this grass and will be extraordinarily happy when they eat this bluegrass. Fortunately this grass is now unique to the meadows farm. You can buy the blue grass starter from Mr Qi’s store for qi gems. Drop this on your farm, and make absolutely sure to place a lightning rod on it so that it can continue to spread, without being eaten. Your animals will thank you.
Each farm layout in Stardew Valley offers a unique way to experience the game, with its own strengths and trade-offs. Whether you prefer efficiency, combat, fishing, or aesthetics, understanding these differences can help you get the most out of your farm and enjoy the game your own way.
