Best Fish Ponds:
1. Fish Pond Beginner Guide

Head to Robin with 5,000g, 200 Stone, 5 Seaweed, and 5 Green Algae. A pond only takes two days to build, has a large five by five footprint, and can only hold one type of fish at a time. Add fish by right clicking the water with a fish in hand.

As the population grows, you’ll get little fetch quests; complete them to unlock higher capacity and better drops. Do not ignore these mini quests, fish ponds with more fish give you much better loot. Put any Sign on a pond to display the type of fish and how many of them there are at a quick glance.

If you want to change which fish is in the pond, click on this little Empty Pond button. This will cause all of the fish to jump out and flop about allowing you to simply pick them up. You can also use a fishing rod to take a couple fish out if you need them for a cooking recipe, the fish will slowly reproduce and be back to the limit over time.
2. Best Fish Ponds In Stardew Valley For making Money

There are many fish that we drop into fish ponds for their value, for the rare and useful items that they drop. But first, let’s go over the best fish for ultimate greedy profit! These fish will make you rich when you drop them into fish ponds! I will tell you the most optimal use for your golden animal crackers a little later.

Just remember that regular fish eggs do not get affected by the artisan profession! Always, and I mean always turn your fish eggs into aged roe. This will double the value of those eggs, and then the artisan profession will increase it by another 40%. It’s worth it.

First we start off with the king of fish ponds. The ultimate proof of your expertise, the Legend himself. You can now drop legendary fish into fish ponds and you can only ever drop a single legendary fish into a fish pond. Naturally the legend is the best option.

Each legendary fish will have a unique effect on your fish ponds! They will each turn your pond into a unique color. Just take a look at this. The special legendary fish that you can only catch during the Extended Family quest will all create the same fish pond color, all except for Ms Angler. She will cause your fish pond to be pink. So there are six different colors that you can create with the legendary fish.
You will never get any cool items from legendary fish ponds, however you will get legendary fish eggs. Of course these can be turned into aged roe using a preserve jar and yes, these will make you rich. With the artisan profession, aged Legend Roe will get you a ridiculously stupid seven thousand gold per serving. That’s crazy, that’s unmatched!! Enjoy. The legend is S tier. The other legendary fish are all B tier in comparison.

Next we have the Lava eel. This is a fish that you can catch on floor 100 in the regular mines, or on floor 10 in the volcano. They’re quite tough to catch but they will be a piece of cake when compared to the legendary fish.
You will need to get ten of these and it’s tedious, however it is also worth it. Each aged legend roe will get you one thousand gold. And yes, you will get multiple servings of eggs when they are produced. There is also a chance to get spicy eel which is a great added bonus. S tier for the lava eel.

The blobfish and the sturgeon come in third place as the most profitable fish in the game. Blob fish have a tiny chance to get you a pearl, however that’s not important. Their aged roe will get you around 800 gold. You can only catch the blobfish during the night market event at the bottom of the ocean using the submarine. They’re a worthy catch as you can drop a blob fish into a sewing machine to get this horrible hat.

The ice pip will give you roe at the exact same value as the blob fish at 784 gold. However the ice pip also has a chance to give you a diamond! Not as cool, but just as valuable. You can catch the Ice pip on floor 60 in the regular mines.

Then we have the sturgeon, you are kind of forced to catch sturgeon and drop them into fish ponds as they are unique. Sturgeons will get you Caviar, and Caviar is required for the Missing Bundle to unlock access to the Movie Theatre. Caviar also sells for 700 gold a piece so yeah, not bad at all. You can catch Sturgeons in summer in front of the mines.
3. Best Fish Ponds Colours In Stardew Valley

There are many fish that give you more value than just money. I am talking about tiger slime eggs, prismatic shards, cinder shards and so many other incredible items. But first, let’s go over these four fish ponds that have a very unique color!
The red fish pond can be created with the simple lava eel.
The green fish pond can be created using the Humble Slime Jack. You can catch the slime jack in the Mutant bug lair hidden inside of the sewer.
This light purple fish pond can be obtained by dropping a Super cucumber into the fish pond. You can catch these during summer, fall and winter on the beach after 5pm.
Then we have this deep purple. You can get this effect by dropping a Void Salmon into your fish pond, and you can catch them at the witches hut.
4. Best Fish Ponds For Rare Items

Stingrays are at the top of this list!! Aged stingray roe won’t make you rich as you’ll only get 330 gold for them.. However Stingrays will produce Cinder shards which are crucial for the forge.
They can also give you dragon teeth which you can use to get an island obelisk or to get special innate enchantments and lastly, they can even produce battery packs. Sting rays are indeed, really gosh darn good.

If you love seafoam pudding, then you know how hard these are to craft.. Where the heck do you even get Squid ink?? The answer is from Fish ponds with either squids or midnight squids. Squids will not produce any eggs,… Regardless you need this on your farm if you care about seafoam pudding.
Super cucumbers give you a cool purple fish pond, that’s cool but there is more to this story!! These fish ponds can also produce iridium ore!! If you’re one of those players that hate the skull cavern, then this fish pond is for you.

Want a free prismatic shard? Drop rainbow trout into your fish pond!! This is possible, it is incredibly unlikely however it is possible!! If you’re the type of player that likes to gamble, then Rainbow trout is the perfect fish for you.

The same is true for tiger slime eggs!! You know those eggs that create tiger slimes, one of the rarest slimes to ever have in your slime hutch?? Yeah, drop some lion fish into a Fish pond for a chance to get a tiger slime egg. These are so rare, I would never sell these eggs! Even if they are worth eight thousand gold each!! They belong in your slime hutch.

ConcerendApe recently changed it such that Treasure chests are now a Universally loved gift! So drop some Spook fish into your fish ponds for a tiny miniscule chance to get a treasure chest. Nice.

There is this little easter egg with fish ponds.. If you drop ten crabs into a fish pond, you will get some mail from Willie. Once you speak to him you will get the lovely opportunity to view this absolutely unhinged cutscene. You will also get a free pearl! After that you can simply remove the crabs, they’re not that good.
5. Golden Animal Crackers On Fish Ponds

Drop a Golden Animal Cracker into a fish pond to absolutely buff it into a new universe of profit. You’ll see this part becomes gold, that’s how you know it’s working. This will drastically increase the amount of Fish Roe you get from fish ponds. So only use it on high profit fish, like the Legend, lava eels or the blob fish.
It can also double the output of other items, like squid ink. So if you really need free iridium ore, drop golden animal crackers onto your super cucumber ponds to get even more iridium ore, this might be enough to completely replace the skull cavern.
Now this is very important. If you have used a golden animal cracker on a fish pond, and if you then remove those fish from the fish pond. You will lose all of those golden animal crackers!! So only use one when you’re absolutely sure you’re not going to change your mind.
